Todd Pentney

Todd Pentney aka HiFiLo is a JUNO award winning Toronto based producer, pianist and keyboardist. His music merges contrasting genres seamlessly into a unique, singular sound by showcasing a mixture of modern production with live performance and improvisations.

 

Todd has extensive experience as a session musician and creative performer with artists such as the Allison Au Quartet, Skratch Bastid, Kount Koal, Shad, sndtrak, Tanika Charles, Ski Beatz, re.verse, Justin Gray, Matt Dusk, Thom Gill, Lauren Falls, Maya Killtron and William Carn, among others.

 

He has worked as pianist and producer on all four albums of the JUNO award winning ensemble the Allison Au Quartet: 2013’s “The Sky Was Pale Blue, Then Grey,” 2016’s “Forest Grove,” 2019’s “Wander Wonder,” and most recently 2023’s “Migrations,” featuring an expanded 10-piece chamber ensemble.

 

He has also written and produced tracks for JUNO award and Polaris Prize-nominated vocalist Tanika Charles, vocalist Maya Killtron, guitarist Thom Gill, and trombonist/composer William Carn. 

Todd has also won a 2022 JUNO Award for Best Jazz Album (Group) as pianist with Sundar Viswanathan’s “Avataar” and garnered a 2023 JUNO award nomination for Best Jazz Album (Solo) as a pianist on bassist Lauren Falls’ album “A Little Louder Now.”
