The Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto is located on the sprawling University of Toronto campus, in the very heart of Canada’s most vibrant and diverse city, surrounded by shops, restaurants and clubs. While the jazz program is small and intimate, you are part of the large and diverse group of students that attend the University of Toronto, and are very much part of the action as a resident of Toronto. You will never run out of things to do, only time to do them!
Most of the jazz activity takes place in our new location at 90 Wellesley Street West, a short walk south of the Faculty of Music on University Ave.. Jazz occupies the north wing of the building, with two performance venues (the upper and lower Jazz Studios), classrooms, rehearsal rooms and practice rooms.
Some classes take place in the Edward Johnson Building, just south of the Royal Ontario Museum on University Avenue. At the Faculty, jazz students mix with classical, opera and music education students, leading to healthy interaction between the various musical styles. While your education focuses on jazz, you will be exposed to many types of music and musicians during your years at U of T.
