This week in jazz…

Hello hello!

Hope you all had a wonderful and restful reading week! Here’s what’s coming up next:

Sunday, February 25th

Patrick Smith Quintet
Kaelin Murphy – Trumpet
Noah Franche-Nolan – Piano
Hayden Farrar – Bass
Nick Fraser – Drums
Patrick Smith – Tenor Saxophone and Compositions

Sunday, February 25, 8:30pm
The Emmet Ray (College and Dovercourt)
$10 PWYC

I’m very excited to be debuting my new project on February 25th at the Emmet Ray. The idea for this band was formed after I spent some time abroad in New York and Europe. This band plays hard-hitting, no-nonsense, thoughtful and inspired original compositions and arrangements. It features some fantastic musicians who are changing the game in Toronto. This group is recording at the end of March and I’ll be releasing an EP with the music from that sometime in May.

Monday, February 26th

The Cavern Bar (Adelaide and Church)
Zach Griffin Trio

Come hear original music written by Zach as well as a few tunes from the other members of the band! This venue has the potential to be a great hang as it is beneath an international hostel! You can find food, drinks, a beer pong table, comfy chairs, and young people from around the world this Monday night. PWYC (suggested $5). Come check it out!
