Please Plant This Band (10:10pm):

Please Plant This Band is a trio of young Canadian musicians who aim to explore the space between structure and improvisation. Musical partners since early in their careers, band members Justin Orok (Guitar), Ben Heard (Bass), and Keagan Eskritt (Drums) moved to Toronto from their hometown of Ottawa, Ontario in order to pursue their own paths in music. Each member is currently studying at a different post-secondary institution, those being the University of Toronto, Glenn Gould School, and Humber College. Now reunited, PPTB hopes to bring you sounds that meet at the crossroads of idiom, with the goal of providing listeners with an introspective and enjoyable musical experience.

Gymnoped (9pm):

Gymnoped performs ambitious music seeking to reconcile meticulously crafted form, open improvisation and a desire to dance. Led by guitarist/composer Nick Lavkulik, this band is informed by the music of Rafiq Bhatia, Paul Motion and Radiohead making a stylistically relevant but rooted sound. Expression within rhythmic grooves, free flowing impressionistic harmony & a pop sensibility for melody; contributes to this band’s aim to make an honest and memorable impact on listeners.
