This week in jazz…
And……we’re back!
Good morning everybody. I hope this email finds you well and rested and ready to start the new semester. I’m hoping it’s going to be a bit easier then last semester. I’m hoping…
Anyways, thanks to the genius wizards of U of T Central our classes start on a Thursday. More importantly Dave Liebman is back for this Thursday and Friday and he’s doing a few things around school to get the new year up and running.
As always remember to stay strong and keep searching.
Here’s what’s happening this week.

U of T Jazz @ the Rex.
There is no U of T Jazz @ the Rex this week…but if you’re in town Zach Smith, Keagan Eskritt and myself will probably be there, so you could go anyways.

There’s a FANTASTIC show happening at the Tranzac…

Matt Lagan Group and Peripheral Vision @ The Tranzac
The Tranzac (Brunswick and Bloor)

Matt Lagan is a saxophone player in his fourth year at Humber and he’s already an incredible artist. He’s got a new band with Jessica Chen on voice, Austin Gembora on drums, Holt Stuart-Hitchcox and Ewan Farncombe on piano. A bunch of new music that is inspired by rock but has the harmonic complexity of jazz. If you’re looking for some motivation to go practice, check out this show.

Peripheral Vision has been around in Toronto for a while. They always sound great and it features U of T Faculty member Nick Fraser on drums.
